Posts Tagged ‘Full Sail’

As I’m sure you all know by now, not only do I work, but I’m a full-time student at Full Sail University.  I just recently finished a course called Scriptwriting Techniques which of course required the creation of a script.  I was doing well in the class and in week 3 of 4 we were supposed to revise our scripts, which I did, but here two weeks later my script is still ungraded yet my final score for the class was posted as a wonderful 68%.  Now I have been dealing with the school trying to figure out what is going on with my script, because for one I haven’t failed a class yet, and two the Army pays for my schooling so if I fail a course I have to pay back the Army (kind of good motivation to pass all my classes).  I don’t want to sound like I’m bitching (which I am), but venting is a more appropriate term.  I’m hoping my instructor gets back with me soon and lets me know what is going on so my grade can be updated in the system.  I mean really, I only need two more points to pass the class and there’s no way my script can be that bad especially since my first draft received an 84%.

Sorry for the gigantic paragraph, but thank you all for reading.

Plans for My Blog

So when I first started up this blog I really didn’t have any goals or plans for it.  I really just started it as an outlet for me to write about gaming, and my target was big gaming Youtube channels.  Watching some of the video’s that gamers post just drives me crazy, and I figured I would tell you why.  So I still plan on doing that, but that’s not what the focus of my blog is going to be anymore.

So my main goal for this blog is to improve my writing skills.  I have been away from writing for about 10 years, and it has really impacted my writing.  My grammar in particular took a hit, but I also feel I lost a little bit of my imagination which I had a whole lot of when I was writing in school.  As a Creative Writing student at Full Sail University, I am slowly getting back a lot of the things I knew, and learning a whole lot of stuff that I didn’t know, but I figure writing in a blog would help out a lot as well.

Now as pretty much everything that I will write about deals with gaming in some form or fashion I have several ideas and plans.  My main plan is to start a weekly short story, and this is how I’m going to do it.

At the end of the month a new game for PC is launching, and its called Sword Coast Legends.  For anyone who has played games such as Baldur’s Gate or Neverwinter it is much the same thing.  For those who haven’t, these games take place in the world of Dungeons and Dragons and everything your character does is based off the rules of the tabletop game.

What I plan to do with this game is this.  Every week a few friends and I are going to have a D&D night where we play Sword Coast Legends for most of the night.  It’s most likely going to be a Friday or Saturday night thing, so then the next morning I would spin whatever we did in game the night before into a story.  One of my friends suggested that I write from a Bard’s point of view so that I am not focused on one character but the whole group in general so I think that’s how I will do it.  By doing this I am hoping to improve my creative writing as a whole, and maybe to end up with a book out of all the exploits.

As I said before I have many plans, but the weekly story is definitely the biggest and I hope I can get a lot of feedback to help me keep improving.  All my other idea’s are mostly small right now so I won’t put them out just yet, but you should be seeing some of them within the coming weeks.  As always thank you for reading, and any comments, likes, and follows are greatly appreciated.

So I am just starting this blog out and the reason I am starting it is to help me improve my writing skills.  I am currently a student at Full Sail University pursuing a degree in Creative Writing for Entertainment and since I have been out of high school for so long (10 years), my writing skills have fallen off a bit.

The focus for my blog is going to be GAMING.  I am a huge and very passionate gamer and have been for as long as I can remember.  I have dabbled in several different competitive scenes and own my own gaming community called Hybrid Nerdz Gaming (hybridnerdz.com).  I have tried Youtube and putting my opinions on video but I am more into writing than I am into making videos so I figure a blog is the way for me to go.

My plan for this blog is to post at least three big posts a week.  Those posts will mostly be my opinion about big Youtubers videos.  They always ask for thoughts and opinions so I am going to write out my thoughts in a blog and provide any evidence as to why I do or don’t agree with their content.  I only plan to do three of these a week so that I have enough time to do background research on the video topic so that my blog doesn’t turn into a giant rant session.

I will also make smaller posts throughout the week on things that I want to talk about or any big gaming events that I think need to be mentioned.  Also since I was a huge Call of Duty player my gamerscore on Xbox is severely lacking so my goal for the end of the year is to have a score of 20,000 (currently have around 15,000) so that means every Sunday I will post an update on any achievements I earned throughout the week.

As I said at the beginning I am starting this blog to improve my writing so please be sure to leave any comments and or ideas for me below.
